Nakamura school from Indonesia

On May 29, 2024, children from an international school called Nakamura School in Indonesia came to visit iU.

We participated in a cultural exchange event at the 4th Azuma Elementary School and a lunch gathering at iU.

The children were 7th graders (equivalent to 1st year in Japanese middle school). Being from an international school, they were fluent in English—native speakers, in fact.

They all seemed quite mature. They asked questions like, “Who is the Prime Minister of Japan?” and more.

Despite that, they love Japanese anime. They mentioned titles like One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen.

One girl, who loves anime, was also fluent in Japanese.

She mentioned wanting to attend a university in Japan. I wonder if she’ll come to iU.
